Founded in 2014, this young ensemble brings together musicians from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. The group’s interpretation of chamber music is informed by their personal experience with members of the Alban Berg Quartet, the Hagen Quartet, and the Wiener Streichsextett, as well as Ferenc Rados and Bruno Weil. The quartet’s regular work sessions with Johannes Meissl (Artis Quartet) and Hatto Beyerle at the ECMA (European Chamber Music Academy) have had a significant influence in shaping the ensemble.
In 2018 the quartet won first prize at the International Chamber Music Competition in Svirel, Slovenia, as well as third prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach, Austria.
The highest priority of the Atalante Quartet is historically informed performance that focuses on the great tradition of quartet playing, while at the same time trying not to lose the pleasure of making music, as we inspire, challenge and encourage one another.
In 2021 the quartet released their debut CD HAYDN. The ensemble is working at home and abroad (E.g. USA, Germany, Bulgaria)
